Welcome to our weekly blog!
Star of the Week
Matthew has been awarded Star of the Week this week for being a principleadon (Principled). Matthew has found writing 's' and 'a' very tricky and would sometimes become frustrated. However, all of this week, Matthew has really tried his hardest to work on his 's' and 'a' formation and now he can do it correctly! We are super proud of Matthew and his 'can do' attitude. We hope you have a lovely week with Mr Bucky and we can't wait to hear about your adventures.
Phonics and Talk 4 Writing
In phonics this week, we have split into our two groups Red Stars and Blue Stars.
Red Stars: This week, they have recapped their satpin sounds, with a strong focus on a. The children discussed words beginning with a, recognising s in words and practising the letter formation.
Blue Stars: This week, they have recapped their satpin sound. The children were also introduced to 'ck', focusing on kicking k for this week. The children discussed words beginning with k, recognising k in words and practising the letter formation.
In Talk 4 Writing, we have been looking at an ebook story 'The Cautious Caterpillar', linking into our phonics. We also linked the story to our UOI looking at the life cycle of a butterfly.
Home learning (optional): Encourage your child to sing the different phonic sound songs and practice writing the sounds.
After the half-term break: Red Stars: Tt Blue Stars: Ee

Unit of Inquiry (UOI)
Who we are in relation to others and our environment.
We are currently in the 'Making Conclusions' part of our inquiry. This week, we have looked at how we grow and the life cycle of a butterfly. This was to help the children understand that all living things go through changes.
After half-term, we will be starting a brand new unit - How we express ourselves. The central idea for our new unit is: We explore and make sense of our world through the stories we tell. We will focus on a theme every two weeks:
Week 1 and 2 - Pirates
Week 3 and 4 - Witches, Wizards and Magic
Week 5 and 6 - Mythical Creatures
Week 7 and 8 - Snow and Ice
After the Christmas break:
Week 9 and 10 - Under the Sea
Week 11 - Showcase week
If your child has a favourite book about pirates ay home, which is our first focus, they are more than welcome to bring this in to show the class.
